Biography

As a researcher I am broadly interested in how humans evolved the capacity for religion and I use cross-cultural data to test theories about how religions co-evolve with social structures. Recently I have used phylogenetic methods and comparative data on traditional Austronesian cultures to test functional theories about ritualised human sacrifice and beliefs in supernatural punishment. Please check out my personal website for more information on my research.
